Making a Difference: James Harden’s Impact on Children in Haiti

HOUSTON, March 22, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Reported this past week, 10-time NBA All-Star, basketball legend, entrepreneur, and philanthropist James Hardens Impact13 Foundation joined forces with The Barbancourt Fondation to launch a brand-new children’s play area in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Impact13 and Fondation Barbancourt unveiled the new park at a Saturday public event attended by 416 children from the neighborhood, along with media and friends. The children were quick to dive into the amenity of the playground, enjoying slides, swings, and the football fields. It is notable for including a jungle gym, slides, stairs, swing sets, and even a football field.    

It will serve the surrounding neighborhood as a great local hangout spot for kids and families. On opening, Fondation Barbancourt president Delphine Gardere commented: “We are very happy that we have created this space within the community. It is going to be a game-changer. We are honored that James Harden and The Impact13 Foundation are supporting us in creating a safe place where our kids can be happy. 

Pilar Donnelly, Impact13, added, “James and Impact13 are in a tremendous partnership working with The Barbancourt Fondation. We have worked together in the past, which is a natural extension of our partnership. We wanted to create an interesting, but more importantly, safe, space where kids from this neighborhood could make some formative memories for a long time. Recently, the Impact13 Foundation joined forces with Houston Housing Authority to reactivate, recharge, and resurrect the Cuney Homes basketball court in Houston.
